Exhibition "THE MAYA, RULERS OF THE RAINFOREST"
The Drents Museum in Assen, Netherlands, is currently showing the great international exhibition "MAYA, RULERS OF THE RAINFOREST", which is open to the public from February 28 to September 4, 2016. Afterwards it will travel to the Historisches Museum der Pfalz in Speyer, Germany, to be seen from October 2, 2016 to April 23, 2017. Most of the exhibits on loan come from Guatemala, mainly from La Ruta Maya Foundation and The National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology MUNAE (both in Guatemala City), as well as some objects from the "Dr. Juan Antonio Valdés" Museum/ Herrera Collection (Uaxactún, Petén). The exhibition also features various objects from the Ethnologisches Museum (Berlin), the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum (Cologne) and other museums.
Exhibition "The Maya Water World"
La Ruta Maya Conservation Foundation, with the support of the Training Center of the Spanish Cooperation (CFCE, in Spanish) and the Embassy of Spain, opened the exhibition "The Maya Water World". This exhibition presented almost a hundred Pre-Columbian objects whose materials and shapes are related to the aquatic and coastal marine world, illustrating the importance of water in nature, daily life, diet, trade, and ritual.

"Treasures of the Maya Spirit" is an exhibition that celebrates maya culture through time. On this occasion more than 70 works of art dating from the Pre-Columbian times to the late 20th century, are presented in the historical district of Guatemala City.

TREASURES OF LA RUTA MAYA: Exceptional Pre-Columbian Art
The exhibition includes vases painted with scenes and hieroglyphic texts, sculptures in stone and stucco, as well as jade and shell ornaments. It also highlights a selection of 9 Teotihuacan style incensarios from the Escuintla-Tiquisate area, decorated with three-dimensional clay applications, representing finely decorated characters with cosmological elements and traits, some of them painted in various colors.
This is the second temporary exhibition presented in the same month, in Antigua Guatemala, by La Ruta Maya Foundation.
