LA RUTA MAYA seeks to establish partnerships with museums in the Mesoamerican region, to give or receive important objects on loan to promote the understanding of precolumbian art in the region.

In Guatemala, one of the major museums is the Santo Domingo Hotel-Museum, located in Antigua Guatemala, where three monuments are displayed at the Museum Walkway; two are large sculptures in the round depicting a jaguar and a warrior dressed as a bird, as well as a tall artifact called "espiga" with a monkey carved on top.

The other 22 Precolumbian objects are displayed at the Archaeological Museum, including polychrome vessels of the Maya lowlands, ceramic boxes, figurines from the Pacific Coast, and funerary urns from the Quiché highlands.
